Psychology tendencies
Humans may show some biases towards the way that we communicate and view our decisions. This file summarizes the many tendencies that I have saw in books and in my life.
Tendency to consider that everyone knows what we know
We have the tendency that speak to an audience thinking that everybody knows what we know, so we tend to use the same language and bypass important concepts, we should pay more attention to how are we communicating.
Tendency to confuse the experiencing self and the remembering self
We have internally two personalities, the experiencing self that is linked emotionally to what is happening right now and the remembering self that is mainly driven by changes, significant moments and endings.
When thinking about happiness this two selfs have very different desires, the experiencing one is tied to now and will expect that we execute whatever we like right now. The remembering self is tied to emotions, and it will link happiness with past marking experiences.
- The remembering self is the one that normally makes decisions
- We think about the future projecting memories from the past.
Tendency to not like bad news or only accept view-point like ours
We have a tendency to only like things that our thoughts are aligned, to hear different opinions is difficult. But we must make an effort because normally in the bad news lies the most valuable information.
Association Tendency
We have a tendency to make associations and judge based on it. This is why beer companies normally expose commercials in beaches and etc. We like the idea of being there, so probably we will like the beer too.
Reciprocation Tendency
When we give something normally will make the person like the idea of giving something back to you.
Reluctancy to change Tendency
Humans like steadiness and when change comes we tend to dislike it.
Doubt avoidance Tendency
Human brain likes to reach to a conclusion as fast as it can, not spending too much time doubting things.
Liking and Disliking Tendencies
We have some interior forces to like our family and dislike things that are bad for our health.
Incentive Tendency
We normally work towards a goal, when negotiating achieving what we want is the most generator of incentives that we can have. When goals align we can achieve the stars.
